The Richard Mille RM 72-01 Automatic Winding Lifestyle Flyback Chronograph, introduced in 2020, marks a major milestone for the brand as the first model to feature Richard Mille’s fully in-house automatic chronograph movement, the CRMC-1. The black ceramic version combines a black TZP ceramic bezel and caseback with a rose gold midcase, creating a bold contrast within the brand’s signature tonneau-shaped case. The skeletonised dial reveals the intricate movement architecture and is distinguished by a colour-coded display: a minutes counter at 1 o’clock with orange accents, a 24-hour indicator at 5:30 in lime green, and a small seconds display at 9 o’clock in blue, complemented by a date window at 7 o’clock, a function selector at 3 o’clock, and a black tachymeter ring with white markings. Rose gold hands and numerals with white inlays ensure clarity, while the black rubber strap and rose gold deployant clasp complete the sporty yet luxurious aesthetic.

The RM 72-01 measures 38.40 mm in width, 47.34 mm in length, and 11.68 mm in thickness, and is water resistant to 30 metres. Inside beats the automatic Calibre CRMC-1, a flyback chronograph featuring a double tilting-pinion clutch system, bi-directional winding, and a 50-hour power reserve ±10%. The flyback function allows the chronograph to be reset and restarted instantly while running, offering true operational efficiency, while traditional start, stop, and reset functions are managed through the two pushers at 2 and 4 o’clock.
