The Richard Mille RM 27-05 Flying Tourbillon Rafael Nadal is a masterpiece of lightweight engineering and shock resilience. Limited to 80 pieces, it weighs just 11.5 grams excluding the strap, making it one of the lightest mechanical tourbillon watches ever built. The case is made from a new material called Carbon TPT B4, engineered for exceptional strength and rigidity. It is remarkably thin and feather light, while still designed to endure intense forces up to 14 000 g shock resistance. The caseback, bezel, and crystal all work together to hold the movement securely without screws in a monobloc case design, reducing weight and enhancing strength. A black textile strap and pin buckle complete the exterior.
Inside the RM 27-05 is a manual winding flying tourbillon calibre with hours and minutes only, built to maximise performance and reliability. It has a power reserve around 55 hours, bridges and baseplate in grade 5 titanium and Carbon TPT, and a free sprung variable inertia balance for stable regulation. The tourbillon is single sided flying, giving an unobstructed view, and there is a fast rotating barrel to improve the consistency of power delivery. Every component is skeletonised and finished with microblasting, beveling, and polished surfaces. The overall architecture emphasises lightness, strength, and ultra high performance, combining Richard Mille’s technical innovation with extremal sports functionality.
