The Patek Philippe Grand Complications Ref. 5520P-001 is a self-winding timepiece that masterfully combines the brand's exclusive dual time zone "Travel Time" system with a 24-hour alarm mechanism. This innovative alarm features a hammer striking on a classic gong, providing a rich chime to alert the wearer. To achieve this, Patek Philippe developed an entirely new integrated movement, the Caliber AL 30-660 S C FUS, and secured four patents for the alarm mechanism. The watch displays local and home times, along with day/night indicators for both, and includes a date function synchronized with local time.
Encased in an elegant 42.2 mm platinum case with a height of 11.6 mm, the 5520P-001 exudes a Pilot-style aesthetic. The ebony black sunburst dial features gold applied numerals with luminescent coating, ensuring readability in various lighting conditions. The timepiece is water-resistant up to 30 meters and comes with interchangeable solid and sapphire crystal case backs. It is complemented by a black calfskin strap with a clevis prong buckle, enhancing its sophisticated appeal.
