F.P. Journe Centigraphe Souverain Black Label Platinum 40mm Ref. CT

The F.P. Journe Centigraphe Souverain Black Label, Ref. CT, belongs to the Black Label Collection, a series reserved for existing F.P. Journe owners and sold only through the brand’s own boutiques. This reference was produced between 2010 and 2017. Its 40mm platinum case measures 10.1mm in height, and it is fitted with a black dial in blackened gold and whitened guilloché silver. The hands are rhodium plated and red lacquered steel. The Centigraphe won the Aiguille d’Or at the 2008 Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève, and F.P. Journe commits 30% of the profits from each Centigraphe sold to the ICM, the Paris institute for brain and spinal cord research.

Inside is the manually wound calibre 1506, built in 18K rose gold with 50 jewels and 284 components. It times events from one hundredth of a second up to 10 minutes across three subdials. The hundredth of a second counter sits at 10 o’clock, the 20 second counter at 2 o’clock, and the 10 minute counter at 6 o’clock. Each subdial has a red time scale and a black tachymeter scale. Instead of conventional pushers, the chronograph is started, stopped and reset by a rocker at 2 o’clock on the case band. A separate patented mechanism keeps the chronograph apart from the timekeeping train, so running the chronograph does not affect the balance amplitude. The movement beats at 21,600 vibrations per hour and gives a power reserve of 80 hours, or 24 hours with the chronograph running.
